Kaja Kaja 2016 KPOP Wish List

2016 KPOP Wish List

It’s a new year! A new line up of comebacks and new groups. Here’s our wish list for the coming year.

Rhea’s Wish List

1. First and foremost, lots of rest and time to spend with friends and family!

2. BTOB Comeback! It hasn't been long since they came back with an album, but I am hoping they comeback this year with an upbeat song (like their "WOW" days)! Although I do love their slow songs, I want to see more choreography on stage haha.

3. Seventeen Showtime (or just more reality shows with Seventeen)! I think they would be super funny on realty shows and since they have subunits within the group they will have the opportunity to  showcase their talents!

4. SMTown World Tour! Wouldn't it be great to experience a SMTown?! I mean, who does not love SM groups? hahah

5. JYP World Tour! I am also JYP biased and I really love the groups in JYP because they are sooooo talented!

Kristine’s Wish List

1. More Wong Fu KPOP Videos with Phil teaching

Cuz dancer and teacher Phil is the best. Lol jk. It’s combining two of my interests: YouTube and KPOP

2. Day6 US Tour

They are having a US fan meet, but that’s not enough! Day6 is my favorite group and Jae should visit his home country.

3. B1A4 comeback

I would like this very soon, preferably another song written by CNU.

4. EXO Realty Show

EXO Showtime wasn’t enough. I want to know more about them. They’re hilarious idols and it short of gives them a break from strenuous activities.

5. Rest for idols and fair company rules

They really do need it. Idols sacrifice so much for us, but we, fans, could do a little sacrifice too. They deserve to be treated fairly and as humans.

Let us know what your wish list for 2016 is!!

Is BTOB the Jealous Type? (All Wolves Except Me)

All Wolves Except Me - BTOB

BTOB came back with song that makes me want to cry!

They’re promoting the song “Way Back Home” from their “I mean ()” album. “Way Back Home” has a nice music video and is sort of like a mini drama or movie. I would like the song a lot more if I didn’t feel the song tugging at my heart strings. The MV was already giving me SO MANY feels. The tears would definitely come out if I read the lyrics.  I know there’s supposed to be a happy resolve at the end, but I couldn’t help but cry. Don’t be sad, BTOB!!

The entire album is giving me a 90’s feels and that seems to be a recurring theme in not only in the K-POP music world but also in the entire fashion world as well. I don’t really mind! I always enjoy throwbacks!

“I’m here” and “Heart Attack” definitely gave me a 90’s vibe; the later giving me an early 90’s feel. “Neverland” had a very sweet feel to it. I thought G.NA’s voice complimented the rap stars of BTOB. For some reason, it reminds me of video game music too. It was must have been the electronic sounding effect in the background. The disk jockey scratches at the end reminded me of the music my uncles listened to when I was younger. Though I enjoy the 90’s vibe of “I mean (),” my favorite song on the album is “All Wolves Except Me.”

The guy is totally tricking the girl.
The song stands out from the rest of the album, which were kind of slow or felt like the type of music you listen to in passing. "All Wolves Except Me" is upbeat and makes me want to dance. I also like the saxophones or trumpets in the background as well giving a jazzy twist to the song. I didn’t think much of the song when I initially listened to it. It was probably a fun song about messing around with girls. The song title did involve wolves and the feel of it was along those lines as well. The line, “Play boy just play boy, he must be a play boy,” caught my attention though! Is the guy in the song supposed to be jealous?

I had to know what the lyrics of the song were!

I find the song quite ironic. It seemed that the guy was approaching the girl and asking her if she had a boyfriend. The girl said she does, so the guy responds by saying that all the guys would trick her, but he wouldn’t. It doesn’t matter if the guy has a good upbringing (going to church and a complete family) or he already has a girlfriend and no matter the age gap, guys will trick girls. Guys would be unfaithful and play games with a girl who is as cute as she is.  All guys are basically wolves, hence the title of the song, who are hunting girls who are sheep. But, the guy in the song isn’t like other guys.

He says that he loves her and even goes as far to give her evidence. If his junior were to come up to him and ask him out at night, he wouldn’t go. But wouldn’t a predator say that to his prey too?

Or since he is also a wolf, the guy in the song is being selfish and doesn’t want to share the girl he has his eye on with anyone else. Wolves are protective creatures, aren’t they? They have to compete with others for their prey too! He's just jealous that she brings all the boys to the yard.

I like this song mostly because of it's beat. I also like the contrast between the confession and the rest of the song. It was a lot softer and slower as he was confessing his love to her. The rest of the song is upbeat and poppin’. He’s giving her an argument that he strongly supports. It gets even better when I interpret the song as an ironic one because it makes me want to laugh at this guy's ridiculous notions.

Please check out BTOB’s “All Wolves Except Me” and read the translation, then let us know your interpretation or what you thought of the song. Also check out their album “I Mean ()”!

Time Slip (Red Velvet's love affair with sleep)

Time Slip - Red Velvet

Red Velvet's newest MV "Dumb Dumb" came out a few days ago. The song is catchy and I can't get the repetitive lyrics outta my head! That's not always a bad thing. haha Even though I like the song and their voices sound really pretty (Red Velvet is on point with their harmonizing), I wanted to check out the rest of the songs on their album, "The Red."

I enjoyed "Huff and Puff" since the lyrics reminded me of Alice and Wonderland when they were singing about running and a rabbit. I think my favorite song on the album was "Day 1," as it talks about the first day of a relationship. The song was a sweet representation of young love and looking towards the future of a relationship.

Though, I'm not talking about those two songs today. I want everyone to check out "Time Slip."

I really like the beat of the song since it reminds me of American music. The two metered (I think it's two metered, I could be wrong) "bump" sound reminded me of "Fancy" by Iggy Azalea. Anyway, when I first listened to the song, it gave me a feeling of wanting to slip away or escape from something. Maybe, Red Velvet was trying to slip away from time?

I went to check out the lyrics to see if the feel of the song was like I suspected and matched with the words. The literal meaning paints the picture of a person who wishes to sleep in and doesn't want to wake up on a Monday. She wants to go back to sleep so that she can continue her beautiful dream.

I think that the song is really about being disappointed with the way reality is treating a girl. Real life is repetitive, boring and can be weird like the weird Monday weather described in the song. She needs a temporary escape so she turns to dream land. Dreams are so much better than real life because men are perfect or a girl's crush has mutual feelings in the dream world. A person can go at his or her own pace in their dreams too. The lyrics of the song even say, "The world out of this bed is moving too fast." Time waits for no one in the real world.

Basically, the girl in "Time Slip" isn't happy with what's going down in her life and it's going too fast. She needs to slip out of time for a bit to adjust and wander another world/fantasy. She can temporarily do that when she daydreams or sleeps.

Overall, I like the song. The lyrics were good and have an interesting meaning. I might give it a few more listens here and there before it gets lost in my iTunes shuffle when I'm studying.

Please check out the song and read the English translation, then let us know your interpretation or what you thought of the song.

Day6 (Don't you mean Saturday?)

Congratulations - DAY6

Day6 is the newest addition to the JYP Nation and was formerly known as 5Live. They are a six membered group consisting of Sung Jin, Jae, Young K, Jun Hyeok, Won Pil, and Do Woon.

I'm excited for them because I loved the sneak peak! The 30-second teaser was not enough for me! I need to know more JYP!!

I’m predicting that “Congratulations” is going to describe the feelings of a guy meeting his ex-girlfriend. She has a new boyfriend and he wants to say “Congratulations.” He will probably be super sad and both the song and the music video will paint a picture of a heartwarming and meaningful relationship. The guy and the girl were high school sweet hearts, but the guy didn’t express his love to her. Then, the girl couldn’t take it anymore and they ended their relationship on a bad note. He still loves her, but let her go because he doesn’t want her to be hurt. The guy is just going to sing about how much he misses her and the bittersweet feeling of really letting his girl go.

You should check out their trailer and let us know your predictions for the upcoming group and music video in the comments!

Finally Day6 is coming out with their first mini album! Ever since Win (the competition between Winner and iKON, formerly known as Team A and Team B) and seeing the "JYP trainees" have a friendly competition, I fell in love with their talents. I am excited and I know that their songs on their album will not be a disappointment.

Their teaser was a little random for me. First, I had no idea who the first guy was! Soon enough I'll learn all their faces and names. Although it was kind of short, I love how the music video was filmed and the last scene of all the members with their band instruments. I wish JYP showed their faces, but thats okay September 7th is right around the corner. As Kristine posted above, I agree with her as the music video will be about the guy and his past relationship. I'm not into sad songs, but "Congratulations" might be an exception! I can't wait for me! Lets all wait and anticipate~
